Simple push button selection gives you three driving modes to choose from. On the road in normal driving conditions 2WD mode offers excellent fuel economy.

Let the X-TRAIL choose. In AUTO mode sensors detect the need for extra traction and distribute the appropriate torque from mainly front wheel drive to full-time four wheel drive.

LOCK mode locks the X-TRAIL in 4X4 with a seat front to rear torque distribution ratio of 57:43 for added traction.

X-TRAIL is the first in its class to have ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels. Heat is dissipated more rapidly to improve braking action, promote less brake fade and enhance brake life.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) electronically regulates brake fluid pressure on each wheel, preventing wheel lockup during sudden braking to enhance vehicle control in potentially hazardous situations.

Brake Assist (BA) system applies additional stopping power by activating ABS (or EBD) Electronic Brake Force Distribution in hard or panic braking situations.

Minimum turning radius of just 5.3 meters (curb to curb) and the light touch of the power steering make for easy maneuvering in tight spaces in the city.
